There is not written law against women driving in Saudi Arabia; however, it is still forbidden in this country. Manal al-Sharif is a woman, who went against this prohibition. In May 2011, she filmed herself driving a car in Saudi Arabia and put the video on YouTube. After being arrested, many people protested against her imprisonment — she was released nine days later.
