Greetings from Kuala Lumpur, where I’ve landed for a 14-hour layover after an 11-hour flight from Amsterdam, part of my whirlwind round-the-world speaking tour for city parks in advance of next Saturday’s World Parks Day: four continents, six cities, eight presentations.

It is a wondrous and strange thing to fly across Europe and Asia, tantalizingly close yet far removed, in our pressurized cabin, from the billions of struggles and stories below.  Adding to this, one can now read continuous in-flight news updates about what is happening on the ground below.
